Participants and winners, together with Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok (the President of TAR UC, 6th from right, middle row), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ng Swee Chin (Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences and Computing (FASC), 2nd from left, middle row), Ms. Lim Mei Shyan (Deputy Dean of FASC, 2nd from right, middle row), Ms Chok Len Mooi (Associate Dean, Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, 4th from right, middle row), Mr. Low Kok Han (Associate Dean, Department of Information and Communication Technologies, 1st from left, middle row) and other instructors.

TAR University College students were the Champions for Cisco Networking Academy NetRidersCCNA Malaysia 2014 competition which was held in TATI University College, Terengganu on 10 May 2014. There were 30 teams in the Degree Category and 23 teams from the Diploma Category with 2 students per team from various IPTA and IPTS participated in this competition. A total of 22 Cisco Academies in Malaysia took part in this event. Organized by Cisco, this competition is a great opportunity for Networking Academy students to learn valuable Networking/IT skills through a series of online exams and simulation activities using Cisco Packet Tracer.

TAR UC Students were the Champions for Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders CCNA Malaysia 2014 Competition

The champions are Jackie Ng and Tan Ren Zhang of the Advanced Diploma in Science (Information Systems Engineering) from Faculty of Applied Sciences and Computing (FASC). They won a trophy, mini iPads and a cash prize of RM1200.

The champion of NetRider Malaysia 2014 will compete in the Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders Asia Pacific International Competition on October 22, 2014. The winner will receive a Study Trip Prize to visit Cisco in San Jose, CA in the U.S.

During the NetRider competition, TAR UC supporters with other IPTAs and IPTSs supporters also took part in a “Make Weekend (Hack Your Apps) Competition” to design apps on mobile phones and presented their ideas. The team that won “Crowd Favorite” is the Encryption Game team (Tan Lay Pin, Tay Shi Yau, Teo Ceng Song and Chong Jia Wei). The 1st runner-up is Gender Equality team (Lee Yik Soon, Eng Yu Tak, Lian Wen Jie and Kway Keam Giap).

TARC has been winning the Top 2 positions of the Cisco National NetRidersCompetition Since 2008

2013: 1st Runner-Up & 2nd Runner-Up

2012: Champion, 1st Runner-Up & 5th to 9th Runner-Up (Swept 7 prizes of 10 in the Top 10)

2011:1st Runner-Up, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th & 9th Runner-Up (Swept 6 Prizes of 10 in the Top 10)Mr Lim Yu Jie (AIT2 graduate from SAS, TARC) has jointly won the prestigious networking competition APAC NetRiders 2011 with another student from Multimedia University (MMU).

2010: Champion, 1st Runner-Up, 5th &7th Placing.

2009: 1st Runner-Up for Networking Theory Exam and Networking Practical Finals, 2nd Runner-Up, 3rd Runner-Up and 4th Runner Up for Degree Packet Tracer Competition.

2008:  1st Runner-Up for Open Category and 2nd Runner-Up for Degree Category.
